FEG's First Five Years

Grateful and Blessed

Five years ago in the Fall of 2020 we launched Financial Evidence Group, a CPA Firm. While a very scary pandemic dominated our near-term world, it made total sense to start our own forensic accounting practice as we looked to the future with courage and hope and envisioned a full and blessed life. Five years later, with unfailing direction from God and immeasurable support from family, colleagues and friends, FEG is entering its 6th year. With zero evidence and 100% faith in the beginning, 5 years later we look back with a deep sense of gratitude and awe.

FEG has assisted in 94 cases/projects so far. The pie chart confirms why forensic accounting is a great career for accountants - the diversity of projects forces us to learn many things quickly while making a difference for our clients. For example, we learned about the business of mining, distributing wine, and even cannabis! We are also constantly reminded of the importance of fair employment practices and the role of strong internal controls in uncovering if not preventing financial fraud.

It is worth noting that in some cases there is an inverse relationship between volume and billings - FEG's accountant malpractice work had the highest average billings (and longer duration) while it was the smallest share of case count; the opposite is true for damages for individuals.

Importantly, we have been given the opportunity to meet many courageous clients who looked to us for support as they sought to be made whole, and their counsel who were a source of valuable insights. We have learned valuable lessons about human nature, confirmed the unfailing value of fairness and integrity in conducting business, and reaped the rewards of communicating clearly, effectively and timely.

We celebrate Thanksgiving this month, but we have many reasons to be grateful every day of the year. Happy Thanksgiving to our clients, colleagues and friends, and all of their loved ones!!! 🍂 🙏
