Financial Evidence Group's A. Christine (Chris) Davis presented an MCLE program to members of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
When we hear the phrase “forensic accounting,” most of us assume it involves some type of financial fraud or embezzlement -- but forensic accounting is much more than that. An experienced forensic accountant is also retained as a damages expert in commercial litigation, where her technical knowledge and expertise, judicious analytical skills, compelling storytelling, and fundamental qualities of authenticity, credibility, and trustworthiness add significant value to the conduct and outcome of the case.
Through Chris' live presentation, attendees: (1) became familiar with how a battle-tested forensic accountant assists in litigation and financial investigations, and (2) received timely mini-lessons in accounting and finance concepts by focusing on a case study where the forensic accountant served as the damages expert in a breach of contract case that ended successfully for the client.
